About the position

The position involves performing maintenance service requests in a data center or critical facility environment, ensuring efficient operations with minimal disruption. The role includes overseeing preventive maintenance, managing contractors, and maintaining building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and fire/life safety systems. The individual will also be responsible for training staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all maintenance departmental service requests efficiently with minimal disruption.
  • Check malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective actions required.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of tools and instruments, providing hands-on instruction in maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building services.
  • Perform and delegate preventative maintenance tasks to qualified staff members.
  • Order parts and equipment required for repair and maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Ensure timely performance of maintenance contract work and oversee contractor activities.
  • Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems including HVAC, electrical, and fire/life safety systems.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Comply with safety policies for hazardous materials storage and disposal.
  • Prepare and submit purchase-order requests for stock materials.
  • Keep records of building rounds, engineering logs, and data sheets.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5+ years related work experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
