About the position

The Data Center Technician role involves working in major data centers located in the New Albany, Plain City, Hilliard, and Dublin areas. This position is a contract role with the potential for conversion to a permanent position based on performance. Technicians will be responsible for the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to read and comprehend technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes with a focus on improvement.
  • Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders.
  • Exhibit quality workmanship and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
  • Follow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work.
  • Maintain orderly paperwork and run service jobs.
  • Layout MDF and IDF closets, dress all types of cable, and perform all types of terminations.
  • Install ladder racking and seismic bracing above and under raised floors.
  • Conduct copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Understanding of customer service principles.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand floor plans.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
  • Ability to pull all types of low voltage cable.
  • Capability in performing field terminations and labeling.
  • Skill to layout MDF and IDF closets and dress cables.
  • Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, written, visual, and listening skills.

  • LEB Certifications (desired but not required).
  • BICSI and industry Certifications (desired but not required).
