About the position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS Infrastructure Services involves maintaining and troubleshooting data center infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of AWS's global infrastructure. Technicians will engage in physical activities related to data center operations, including hardware and software troubleshooting, rack deployment, and capacity planning, while collaborating with a diverse team to uphold safety and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Engage in physical data center activities including planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Lift and move materials up to 49 pounds each.
• Work in cramped and/or elevated locations and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day, and safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways.
• Work in a noisy environment and cover shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.

Requirements

• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Associate's degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of experience with server hardware and 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
• Active Security+ certification or ability to obtain one within 90 days of start.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.
