About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking fully cleared Data Center Technicians to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining one of the world's largest information system infrastructures. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, and networking problems. You will be part of a diverse team that includes software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, all working together to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while providing our customers with reliable access to cloud services. In this role, you will engage in physical data center activities, which may include planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and decommissioning of racks. You will be required to lift and move materials weighing up to 49 pounds, work in cramped or elevated locations, and stand or walk for extended periods. The position may involve working shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Your ability to apply IT principles, such as computer architecture and the OSI model, will be essential in finding effective solutions to complex problems. Responsibilities

  • Engage in physical data center activities including planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, fiber, and networking issues in the data center.
  • Lift and move materials up to 49 pounds as required.
  • Work in cramped and/or elevated locations safely.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8+ hours a day.
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
  • Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other teams to drive resolution of technical issues.
  • Implement process innovations to improve effectiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+ certification.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Experience in data center environments, including racking and stacking gear and cable management.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP is a plus.
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications is a plus.
  • Associate's degree in IT-related field plus two years of progressively responsible experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure Services.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and the OSI model.
