About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Data Center On-Site Technician with expertise in smart hands, rack and stack, server break-fix, and remote support. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the operational integrity of our data center infrastructure by performing hands-on tasks onsite, including equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair, as well as providing remote support by accessing server racks using keyboard, monitor, and mouse (KVM) format. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for providing expert assistance for remote IT teams by performing hands-on tasks in the data center, including equipment installation, cable management, and hardware upgrades. You will execute rack and stack procedures for new server deployments, ensuring proper placement, alignment, and connectivity according to established standards and guidelines. Additionally, you will diagnose and resolve hardware issues with servers, storage devices, and networking equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Your role will also involve utilizing keyboard, monitor, and mouse (KVM) format to remotely access server racks, troubleshoot issues, and perform configuration changes as needed. Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and equipment audits will be essential to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols. You will maintain accurate records of all on-site activities, including equipment inventory, service requests, and incident reports, and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders. In emergency situations such as power outages, equipment failures, and environmental alarms, you will respond promptly and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and restore service continuity. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and facilities personnel, will be crucial to coordinate project activities and ensure seamless integration of new equipment into the data center environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a data center technician or similar role, with hands-on experience in smart hands, rack and stack, and server break-fix operations.
  • Proficiency in using keyboard, monitor, and mouse (KVM) format for remote server access and troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical skills in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, including servers, switches, routers, and storage devices.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure components such as power distribution units (PDUs), cooling systems, and environmental monitoring sensors.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, external vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
