About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity of data center facilities. This position involves performing both preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center environment, ensuring that all technical systems are functioning optimally. You will be part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, which is dedicated to providing technical maintenance services in critical client environments. Your responsibilities will include conducting daily site inspections of all mechanical and engineering systems, as well as technical equipment, to ensure they are properly serviced and maintained. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the site's environmental conditions to provide a safe working environment. You will react to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and complete emergency repairs as necessary. Collaboration with third-party vendors will be essential, as you will need to ensure compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. If subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement, you will be expected to alert management. Your daily tasks will include completing planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment, checking the BMS for running and alarm conditions, and responding to HVAC-related client issues. You will conduct building walkthroughs, take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities, and provide solutions to facility and plant faults and defects. Following established processes and procedures is critical, as is adhering to all safety processes and regulatory requirements. You will also conduct routine quality checks to maintain comprehensive maintenance records and complete all required training to ensure you can successfully fulfill your job responsibilities. This position requires you to follow defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance, with a focus on delivering your output effectively. Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.

  • Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures.
  • Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met.

  • Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
