About the position

The Data Center Technician (DCT) role involves developing an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment. This position is crucial in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for online services, while also focusing on personal and professional development through training and growth opportunities. The DCT will work under the guidance of experienced colleagues to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards in a dynamic data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning IT data center technology and equipment.
  • Review Process Change Notifications (PCN) and understand the impact on work execution.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startup and shutdown for hardware according to specific written instructions.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance to identify technical issues and replace faulty components.
  • Communicate, report, and escalate data center technical or safety-related incidents to management.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and complete required Environmental & Health Safety (EHS) training.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information and collaborating with other technicians.

Requirements

  • Completed High/Secondary School, GED, an apprenticeship/vocational qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structured Cabling (BSC).
