About the position

The Data Center Technician at JLL is responsible for performing maintenance and service requests in a data center environment, ensuring efficient operations with minimal disruption. The role involves overseeing preventative maintenance, managing contractors, and maintaining various building systems, including mechanical and electrical equipment. The technician will also ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all maintenance departmental service requests efficiently with minimal disruption.
  • Check malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective actions required.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of tools and instruments, providing hands-on instruction in maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building services.
  • Perform and delegate preventative maintenance tasks to qualified staff members.
  • Order parts and equipment required for repair and maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Ensure timely performance of maintenance contract work and oversee equipment warranty obligations.
  • Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Comply with safety policies for hazardous materials storage and disposal.
  • Protect and improve the value of clients' assets by ensuring building systems perform their intended functions.
  • Oversee activities of contractors working within the building.
  • Keep records of building rounds, readings, and engineering logs.
  • Train contractors on building's critical functions and emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 5+ years related work experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
