About the position

The Data Center Test Technician role at Kforce involves supporting enterprise storage and compute customers by testing and troubleshooting racked solutions in a fast-paced environment. This advanced position requires a skilled specialist to contribute innovative solutions and effectively complete complex assignments. The technician will utilize hardware, networking, and scripting knowledge to meet customer specifications and will be responsible for logging failures and collecting trend data as directed by supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot racked solutions in a high-paced program environment.
  • Utilize hardware, networking, and advanced scripting knowledge to deploy customer specifications.
  • Work on highly complex assignments requiring independent judgment and technical knowledge.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware failures as they occur.
  • Log all failures in an online system and collect trend data as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a Technical Associate's degree in Electronics, Computer Networking, Computer Engineering/Tech, or relevant work experience.
  • 1-year minimum experience with Linux and Windows Server Operating System required or equivalent.
  • Previous company hardware experience and understanding of infrastructure and test methods.
  • Proven ability to communicate quality concerns with peers, supervisors, and engineering support.
  • Knowledge of network transfers, pre-boot execution environment, and TCP/IP required.
  • Experience in network switch configuration, firmware upgrades, and subnet masking is required.
  • Knowledge of image deployment is required.
  • Unix/Linux experience required.
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Analytical problem solving and decision-making skills required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate quality concerns and demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Ability to identify the basic purpose of server and rack components.
  • Expert knowledge on the general/technical aspects of the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of VMware is preferred.
  • Knowledge of virtualization is preferred.
