About the position

The Data Connections Engineer role at Orchard involves designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end data pipelines to support the Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiatives. This position requires an active Secret clearance and focuses on utilizing advanced data analytics tools to enhance decision-making processes and operational efficiency within federal agencies. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement end-to-end data pipelines using ETL processes and technologies.
• Create and optimize data pipelines from scratch, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Perform data cleansing, integration, and quality assurance to maintain dataset accuracy.
• Leverage big data technologies to process and analyze large datasets efficiently.
• Troubleshoot data-related problems and provide innovative solutions.
• Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design optimal data models.
• Provide timely and accurate data insights to support decision-making processes.
• Maintain documentation for software applications, workflows, and processes.
• Stay updated with emerging trends in data engineering and recommend suitable tools.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance is required.
• Demonstrated experience creating data pipelines from scratch.
• Proven proficiency in ETL processes and hands-on experience with Databricks, Python, Spark, Scala, JavaScript/JSON, SQL, and Jupyter Notebooks.
• Strong problem-solving skills for complex data-related issues.
• Experience working with large datasets and leveraging big data technologies.
• Understanding of data modeling, database design principles, and data governance practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Qlik/Qlik Sense, QVD/QlikView, and Qlik Production Application Standards (QPAS).
• Recent DoD or IC-related experience.
• Previous experience with Advana.
