About the position

The Data Core Technical Project Manager will support the Clinical Quality, Outcomes, Discovery, and Evaluation Core (CQODE) within the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS). This role focuses on providing excellent customer service through structured project management and technical expertise, ensuring that custom health data sets are created for researchers, clinicians, and patients to improve healthcare outcomes. The position involves leading customers through a stage gate process to assess project fit, managing approved data projects, and ensuring quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and facilitate each step in a stage gate process to determine project acceptance.
  • Establish a realistic scope, resource budget, and timeline for approved data projects.
  • Support and manage project work, maintaining scope, budget, and timeline while providing clear communication to customers.
  • Ensure data sets meet quality requirements before project closure.
  • Document lessons learned and identify process improvement opportunities at project closure.
  • Provide superior customer service through clear communication and active listening.
  • Manage support for internal CQODE projects, including metrics tracking and annual reports.
  • Update internal processes for efficient and accurate customer delivery.
  • Act as the primary information resource for University faculty and staff regarding program services.
  • Facilitate weekly and bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Maintain a project database to document project progress and health.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory responsibilities and processes.

Requirements

  • BA/BS with at least 4 years of research/technical project management experience or a master's degree in a related field plus 2 years of experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in data management using spreadsheets or basic proficiency with statistical software or SQL.
  • Excellent customer service skills with clear communication and active listening abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data-centric technical projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and communicate timeline delays effectively.
  • Well-developed strategies for managing all phases of a project's life cycle.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to discern when to escalate issues.
  • Commitment to positive team dynamics and creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of experience cleaning and analyzing data.
  • Experience with data wrangling and analysis.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience in a health-related research setting.
