About the position

The Data Core Technical Project Manager will support the Clinical Quality, Outcomes, Discovery, and Evaluation Core (CQODE) within the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS). This role focuses on providing excellent customer service through clear communication, structured project management, and technical expertise. The manager will lead customers through a stage gate process to assess project requests, oversee the assembly of custom health data sets, and ensure successful project completion while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and facilitate each step in a stage gate process to determine which projects to accept that align with resource capacity, skills, and mission.
  • Provide technical project management for approved data projects, establishing a realistic scope, resource budget, and timeline.
  • Support and manage project work, maintaining scope, budget, and timeline, while providing clear communication about progress to the customer.
  • Ensure that data sets meet quality requirements before closing a project, documenting lessons learned and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Manage support for internal CQODE projects, including metrics tracking and development of educational materials.
  • Act as the primary information resource to University faculty, staff, and investigators about program services and resources.
  • Facilitate weekly co-director's meetings and bi-weekly full team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory responsibilities and processes, collaborating with regulatory specialists.

Requirements

  • BA/BS with at least 4 years of research/technical project management experience or a master's degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with data in spreadsheets or basic proficiency with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, or Stata).
  • Excellent customer service skills, including clear communication and active listening.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data-centric technical projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and communicate timeline delays effectively.
  • Well-developed strategies for managing each phase of a project's life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of experience cleaning and analyzing data.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience in a health-related research setting.
  • Experience working on federally funded projects.
