Data Developer

About the position

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is seeking a Data Developer with skills in PostgreSQL, Redshift, Python, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This position involves extensive Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) projects, maintaining data integrity and accessibility, and developing data processes, automation, and documentation. The Data Developer will independently develop automation scripts, custom data views, query efficiencies, and metrics reports. Attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through are critical. This position works in a fast-paced environment and must be able to support multiple projects at once, many with short deadlines. This is a remote position, allowing flexibility to work from a location within the United States or its Territories.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex data solutions to support enterprise-level application requirements.
• Plan and develop data projects including utilization policies and procedures.
• Design user-friendly tools/reports that assist in the monitoring and analysis of OIA datasets.
• Create technical documentation for datasets, projects, and processes.
• Assist with the creation of training material and may perform training of small groups.
• Improve OIA functional and analytical capabilities with advanced/unique data solutions.
• Maintain data quality by establishing standardization procedures and protocols.
• Improve quality, efficiency, and consistency of OIA datasets.
• Create timely reports, extracts, or queries to meet the needs of stakeholders.
• Perform industry standard level testing before operationalizing tools or projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in data management and use of best practices.
• Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) tools.
• Experience with ETL design, reporting tool development, and technical documentation.
• Experience creating data processing flowcharts/visuals and data dictionaries.
• Experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or QuickSight.
• Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to present ideas in clear and concise manner.
• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
