About the position

NDSU Libraries is seeking a Data and Digital Technologies Librarian to provide leadership and direction in support of the Libraries' data and digital technologies initiatives. This role is situated within the Research & Engagement department and offers the opportunity to identify and incorporate liaison responsibilities. The Data & Digital Technologies Librarian will develop and promote the NDSU Libraries suite of technologies, which includes the Data Visualization Lab, Digital Fabrication Lab, CoLab Space, and Multimedia Lab, which features podcasting, presentation, and Lightboard options. This position will also identify student and campus-focused initiatives both within and outside the NDSU Libraries, collaborating with campus and college partners, corporate community partners, librarian liaisons, and library staff to support student innovation, engagement, and access to creative technology services. In addition to these responsibilities, the DDT Librarian will oversee a .50 library staff employee and several graduate and undergraduate student employees who assist in staffing the various technology spaces. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required. The advertised salary for this position starts at $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Libraries' data and digital technologies initiatives.
  • Develop and promote the NDSU Libraries suite of technologies including the Data Visualization Lab, Digital Fabrication Lab, CoLab Space, and Multimedia Lab.
  • Identify and implement student and campus-focused initiatives in collaboration with various partners.
  • Support student innovation, engagement, and access to creative technology services.
  • Oversee library staff and student employees in staffing technology spaces.

Requirements

  • Accredited ALA or international equivalent MLS, MLIS, MSIS or MS; ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science.
  • Experience providing library instruction in person or online, or experience with both.
  • Experience working in an academic library or research setting.
