About the position

Snap Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team, focusing on building and maintaining data pipelines that adhere to privacy and governance principles. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality datasets are available for reporting and analysis, while also driving the adoption of these datasets. The Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting data quality, developing tooling, and implementing systems to enhance data consumption capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders in engineering, finance, sales, marketing, strategy, and governance to make high quality datasets available to consumers in a timely manner
  • Develop data pipelines adhering to privacy and governance principles
  • Become familiar with data consumption portals and their capabilities
  • Build expertise and ownership of data quality for supported domains
  • Build tooling and implement systems to overcome limitations of the data consumption portals when appropriate
  • Drive adoption of the data sets produced
  • Support and maintain data pipelines with on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in a relevant field
  • 3+ years experience in Advanced SQL or similar languages, data modeling and architecture
  • 3+ years development experience in at least one object-oriented or scripting language (Python, Java, Scala, etc)
  • 3+ years experience using data orchestration tools such as Airflow/Luigi/Dagster/etc

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery, visualization tools, GCP stack
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP DWH
  • Experience in version control systems such as Git
  • Experience working with Accounting/Finance teams and financial reporting
  • Data architecture and warehousing experience
  • Experience being a technical lead for a small team of data or software engineers
