As a Data Engineer Advisor at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights for our clients. Your expertise will help address significant big-data challenges and advance our clients' missions. In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, and test infrastructures for data generation, optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. You will act as a “super-user” for ongoing system development efforts, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers. Your recommendations for continuous improvement will be vital, as will your ability to proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities for improvement in testing or other processes. Additionally, you will contribute to data calls and special projects as needed, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service and solutions. To succeed in this position, you will need a strong educational background, preferably a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. You should have at least eight years of related experience in data engineering or a similar technical field. Your technical skills should include familiarity with scripting or programming in languages such as Linux and Python, as well as experience analyzing datasets to identify trends and patterns. You will also need to produce informational and intelligence products that effectively communicate findings to various audiences. Strong briefing and writing skills are essential, as is the ability to translate end-user requirements into actionable insights for developers. This position requires a Top Secret SCI clearance with a polygraph, and you will be expected to work on-site at the customer location in Tysons Corner, VA. Your work will not only contribute to the success of our clients but also to the safety and security of our nation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and test infrastructures for data generation.
  • Optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.
  • Act as a 'super-user' for ongoing system development efforts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities for improvement in testing or other processes.
  • Contribute to data calls and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least eight (8) years of related experience in data engineering, technical analysis, or a similar relevant technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming with Linux, Python, or any other language.
  • Experience analyzing both large and small datasets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Experience producing informational, contextual, and/or intelligence products that embody and explain findings for a variety of audiences.
  • Familiarity with field HUMINT, cyber collection, and knowledge of national intelligence agencies.
  • Skilled in writing intelligence products and strong briefing and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computing processing platforms (e.g., computers, mobile, I.O.T.)
  • Knowledge of mobile technologies including cellular networks (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.)
