About the position

As a Data Engineer Advisor at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our clients' capabilities to transform data into actionable insights. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing significant big-data challenges faced by our clients, ultimately contributing to national safety and security. This position requires a blend of technical prowess in data engineering and intelligence analysis skills, enabling you to interface effectively with end-users and development teams. You will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and testing infrastructures for data generation, while also optimizing data flow and collection processes for cross-functional teams. Your role will involve collaborating with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives. In this position, you will act as a representative for "super-users" in ongoing system development efforts, providing recommendations for continuous improvement and proactively identifying risks and opportunities for enhancement in testing and other processes. You will also contribute to data calls and special projects as needed, ensuring that your work aligns with the overarching mission of GDIT to create a safer and smarter world. Your contributions will not only impact the immediate projects but also help advance the mission of our clients, making your role both meaningful and rewarding.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and test infrastructures for data generation.
  • Optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.
  • Act as a representative for "super-users" in ongoing system development efforts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities for improvement in testing or other processes.
  • Contribute to data calls and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • At least eight (8) years of related experience in data engineering, technical analysis, technical targeting, or a similar relevant technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming with Linux, Python, or any other language.
  • Experience analyzing both large and small datasets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Experience producing informational, contextual, and/or intelligence products that embody and explain findings for a variety of audiences.
  • Familiarity with field HUMINT, cyber collection with in-depth knowledge of national intelligence Agencies.
  • Skilled with writing intelligence products.
  • Ability to translate and communicate analyst/targeter end-user requirements to developers providing system upgrades, features, and added data value.
  • Strong briefing and writing (verbal and written) skills.
  • Hands-on experience using commercially available data exploitation and visualization tools for analysis (e.g., MS Excel, Tableau, Wireshark, X-Ways, Encase).

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computing processing platforms (e.g., computers, mobile, I.O.T.).
  • Knowledge of mobile technologies to include cellular networks (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.).
