About the position

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a self-starter Data Engineer Analyst to support Business Intelligence initiatives. This remote position involves working with a team of IT professionals to facilitate data analysis and application development, ensuring data quality and effective reporting. The role requires translating business requirements into analytic methods and providing operational support to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support and perform application development in a diverse environment including SAS, SQL, PL/SQL, JAVA, and UNIX/AIX scripting.
  • Participate in end-to-end customer requirements gathering, development, and implementation.
  • Identify data analysis needs and process system data.
  • Translate business requirements into analytic methods and build analytics models.
  • Develop reports and present information to customers.
  • Create and execute test scripts and document findings.
  • Provide daily operational support to customers and other IT initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field, or an Associate degree with one year of experience, or a High School diploma with four years of experience in business application consulting or development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Oracle, and JAVA.
  • Experience with developing ad hoc reports using SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Knowledge of Oracle databases and ETL processes.
  • Experience in application design, software development, and testing.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing interaction with internal and external audiences using written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data quality analysis and application development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and structured software development lifecycle.
