About the position

The Data Engineer role within the Advertising Analytics & Data Management team at Amazon focuses on designing and building scalable data architecture to support performance advertising products. This position involves working with large datasets to drive data-based business decisions and improve business performance through data insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and business acumen, enabling them to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve the current data architecture using AWS Redshift, AWS S3, AWS Aurora (Postgres) and Hadoop/EMR
  • Improve upon the data ingestion models, ETL jobs, and alarming to maintain data integrity and data availability
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in data persistence and big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with the increased datasets of advertiser experience
  • Partner with stakeholders to build and verify hypothesis to improve business performance
  • Manage and support business critical reports and reporting tools to monitor KPIs

Requirements

  • 1+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
  • Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.
