About the position

The Data Engineer, Analytics role at Meta involves designing, modeling, and implementing data warehousing activities to support informed decision-making across various products and domains. The position requires collaboration with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and create sophisticated data models and visualizations. The role also includes managing service level agreements (SLAs) for data sets, optimizing data pipelines, and addressing data quality issues while ensuring compliance with privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and implement data warehousing activities to deliver the data foundation for informed decision making.
  • Design, build, and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations for multiple use cases across different products or domains.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and represent key data insights visually.
  • Define and manage SLAs for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
  • Create and contribute to frameworks that improve the efficacy of logging data and resolve data infrastructure issues.
  • Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements and evolve governance processes.
  • Solve data integration problems using optimal ETL patterns and sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems for easier development of data artifacts.
  • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities.
  • Work on diverse problems requiring evaluation of identifiable factors and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods for solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Experience in features, design, and use-case scenarios across a big data ecosystem.
  • Custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Ability to write SQL statements.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
  • Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.
  • Familiarity with MapReduce or MPP systems.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience gathering and understanding business requirements for complex systems and processes.
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing performance of complex workflows.
