About the position

The Data Engineer (Analytics) at Meta Platforms, Inc. is responsible for designing, modeling, and implementing data warehousing activities that support informed decision-making across various products and domains. This role involves collaborating with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and represent key insights visually. The engineer will also manage service level agreements (SLAs) for data sets, improve logging efficacy, and ensure data security and quality while solving complex data integration challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and implement data warehousing activities.
• Build and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations for various use cases.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs.
• Define and manage SLAs for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
• Create frameworks to improve the efficacy of logging data.
• Work with data infrastructure to triage and resolve issues.
• Implement security models based on privacy requirements and ensure safeguards are followed.
• Address data quality issues and evolve governance processes.
• Solve data integration problems using optimal ETL patterns and frameworks.
• Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems for easier development of data artifacts.
• Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities.
• Analyze diverse data problems requiring evaluation of identifiable factors.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
• Completion of a graduate-level course, research project, or internship involving custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages.
• Knowledge of schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• Proficiency in writing SQL statements.
• Familiarity with MapReduce or MPP systems.
• Experience with Python.
