About the position

The Data Engineer at Meta Platforms, Inc. is responsible for designing, building, and launching data pipelines that facilitate the movement of data across systems. This role focuses on creating data tools that generate business insights, supporting product and business teams in making data-driven decisions, and ensuring the efficiency and scalability of data solutions. The position involves close collaboration with various teams to enhance data infrastructure and resolve issues, while also allowing for telecommuting anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and launch data pipelines to move data across systems.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine workability and provide support for end users on data usage.
• Design, architect, and develop software and data solutions for data-driven decision making.
• Influence strategy and roadmap for efficient data solutions and scalable data warehouse plans.
• Design, develop, test, and launch new data models and processes into production, providing support as needed.
• Leverage ETL frameworks and tools for data processing.
• Interface with data infrastructure, product, and engineering teams to enhance ETL and reporting frameworks.
• Identify data infrastructure issues and drive to resolution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 24 months of experience in data ETL design, implementation, and maintenance on a large scale.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, Java, or PHP.
• Experience writing SQL statements.
• Ability to analyze large volumes of data for insights, gaps, and inconsistencies.
• Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and plans.
• Experience with Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, dimensional data modeling, or schema design.
• Familiarity with Map Reduce or MPP systems.
• Experience with Hadoop, HBase, or Hive.
