About the position

Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta), formerly known as Facebook Inc., is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and implementing data warehousing activities that deliver a robust data foundation, enabling informed decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand their data needs and represent key data insights visually in a meaningful way. Your contributions will directly impact various products and domains, supporting multiple use cases through sophisticated data models and visualizations. As a Data Engineer, you will define and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all data sets within your areas of ownership. You will also create and contribute to frameworks that enhance the efficacy of logging data, collaborating with data infrastructure teams to triage issues and resolve them effectively. Your role will involve determining and implementing security models based on privacy requirements, ensuring that safeguards are followed, addressing data quality issues, and evolving governance processes. You will tackle challenging data integration problems by utilizing optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques, sourcing data from both structured and unstructured sources. Additionally, you will optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate the easier development of data artifacts. Your influence will extend to product and cross-functional teams, helping to identify data opportunities and solve problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions will be essential in this role. Telecommuting from anywhere in the US is permitted, providing flexibility in your work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and implement data warehousing activities to deliver the data foundation that drives impact through informed decision making.
  • Design, build and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights visually in a meaningful way.
  • Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
  • Create and contribute to frameworks that improve the efficacy of logging data, while working with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve.
  • Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership.
  • Solve challenging data integration problems utilizing optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, query techniques, and sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Experience in features, design, and use-case scenarios across a big data ecosystem.
  • Custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Ability to write SQL statements.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
  • Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.
  • Proficiency in Python.
