About the position

The Data Engineer (Analytics) role at Meta involves designing, modeling, and implementing data warehousing activities to support informed decision-making across various products and domains. The position requires collaboration with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and create sophisticated data models and visualizations. The engineer will also manage service level agreements (SLAs) for data sets, optimize data pipelines, and ensure data security and quality within their areas of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and implement data warehousing activities to deliver a data foundation for informed decision-making.
  • Build and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations for multiple use cases across different products or domains.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and represent key insights visually.
  • Define and manage SLAs for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
  • Create frameworks to improve logging data efficacy and resolve data infrastructure issues.
  • Implement security models based on privacy requirements and address data quality issues.
  • Solve data integration problems using optimal ETL patterns and techniques from structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems for easier development of data artifacts.
  • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities.
  • Work on diverse problems requiring evaluation of identifiable factors and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods for solutions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Completion of a graduate-level course, research project, or internship involving custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages.
  • Knowledge of schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL statements.
  • Familiarity with MapReduce or MPP systems.
  • Experience with Python.
