About the position

Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta), formerly known as Facebook Inc., is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and implementing data warehousing activities that will serve as the foundation for informed decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand their data needs and represent key data insights visually in a meaningful way. Your contributions will directly impact the way we leverage data to drive business outcomes and enhance user experiences across our platforms. As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains. You will also define and manage service level agreements (SLAs) for all data sets within your areas of ownership, ensuring that data quality and governance processes are upheld. Your role will involve solving complex data integration problems using optimal ETL patterns and frameworks, as well as optimizing pipelines, dashboards, and systems to facilitate the development of data artifacts. You will have the opportunity to influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities and work on diverse problems that require thorough analysis of identifiable factors. Your ability to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions will be crucial to your success in this position. Additionally, this role allows for telecommuting from anywhere in the US, providing flexibility in your work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and implement data warehousing activities to deliver the data foundation that drives impact through informed decision making.
  • Design, build and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights visually in a meaningful way.
  • Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
  • Create and contribute to frameworks that improve the efficacy of logging data, while working with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve.
  • Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership.
  • Solve challenging data integration problems utilizing optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, query techniques, and sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate easier development of data artifacts.
  • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Experience in features, design, and use-case scenarios across a big data ecosystem.
  • Custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Ability to write SQL statements.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
  • Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.
  • Proficiency in Python.
