The Data Engineer position within AWS Finance, Analytics, and Science (FAST) focuses on supporting the BI needs of the AWS Worldwide Specialist Organization. This role is crucial for leveraging cloud computing to enhance information technology solutions for global enterprises. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be comfortable with large data sets, and have a passion for data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the BI needs of the AWS Worldwide Specialist Organization.
• Design and build ETL pipelines for data processing.
• Model and warehouse data to facilitate analytics.
• Write complex SQL queries to extract insights from large data sets.
• Collaborate with business users and technical teams to gather requirements and communicate data strategies.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Redshift, Oracle, and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
• Experience with AWS technologies including Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, and Lambda.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with non-relational databases and data stores.
• Knowledge of distributed systems related to data storage and computing.
• Proven success in communicating with business users and technical teams.
• Experience in providing technical leadership and educating other engineers.
