About the position

The Data Engineer role is a contract-to-hire opportunity focused on designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes. This position requires technical expertise in data engineering, database management, and cloud technologies, particularly in the healthcare sector. The Data Engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives and ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of healthcare data from diverse sources.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes using Cloud technology such as Azure and Databricks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and develop effective ETL/ELT solutions.
• Implement and maintain cloud-based data platforms and services, leveraging technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Databricks.
• Enforce data governance policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor performance of data pipelines and implement optimizations to improve efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field OR 4+ years of related experience.
• 2+ years experience in data engineering, utilizing programming skills to build robust data pipelines.
• Understanding of SDLC processes including CI/CD approaches.
• 1+ years experience working with data from electronic health records (EHRs) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Epic Clarity Data Model Certification (must be completed within 6 months of joining) preferred.
