About the position

The Data Engineer role at CACI focuses on supporting cybersecurity data collection, analysis, and mitigation efforts. This position involves working on projects related to automated event identification, incident response, and the integration of cybersecurity tools into a Splunk data-lake. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance data quality and governance while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity principles. This remote position allows for flexibility in work hours, particularly for those in the eastern time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Support cybersecurity-related projects including automated event identification and incident response.
  • Integrate cybersecurity implementation into a Splunk data-lake.
  • Analyze data from cybersecurity tools and develop enhanced automated queries.
  • Prepare presentation materials for Government managers.
  • Assist with Data Analysis and Data Quality Management activities.
  • Develop an approach for expanding the existing data integration layer.
  • Ensure data quality in the Elastic Dashboard.
  • Examine contractual data requirements to drive data modeling and pipelines.
  • Provide expertise on data requirements and quality to stakeholders.
  • Conduct complex data analysis using SQL and instruct developers on data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to improve data quality for cyber risk decisions.
  • Develop and maintain the solution's data dictionary and data lineage.
  • Recommend and implement data governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform data profiling to identify anomalies and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare metrics, reports, and documentation of deliverables.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen and pass a background investigation.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD).
  • Proven work experience in data governance, data quality, and data engineering roles.
  • Expert knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data quality assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with vulnerability triaging and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with data management tools and technologies.
  • Solid understanding of government data governance policies related to cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in data transformation, normalization, and configuration.
  • Technical expertise in data ingestion and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of big data platforms and data source formats from APIs.
  • Experience with API integration and data pipelines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Elastic Certified Analyst or relevant certifications in data governance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any other cybersecurity certification such as Security+, CEH, or CISSP.
  • Experience with Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, or Data Lakehouse.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity tools and federal cybersecurity concepts.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana Dashboards.
