About the position

The Data Engineer role at Cardinal Health focuses on supporting and expanding the Data & Analytics platforms that are essential for processing, storing, and organizing data critical for business insights. This position involves driving technical execution and maintenance of data solutions, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and responsive. The Data Engineer will collaborate with various teams to solve business problems and enhance data analytics capabilities, leveraging expertise in data movement and database technologies, particularly in GCP BigQuery and other platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support and expand Data & Analytics platforms for data processing and storage.
  • Drive technical execution and maintenance of data solutions to ensure reliability and security.
  • Collaborate with Shared Services, Cloud teams, offshore developers, and business users to deliver solutions.
  • Participate in technical platform strategy and define database and data movement standards.
  • Analyze and re-architect legacy database objects to GCP BigQuery.
  • Define data analytics capabilities to meet business needs.
  • Ensure technical specifications align with business needs and design standards.
  • Generate ideas for process and technical improvements for supported platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with data security standards and audits.
  • Develop best practices for solution frameworks and coding practices.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in data engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience with data analysis and re-platforming to GCP BigQuery.
  • Experience with database design and modeling.
  • Expert knowledge of BI Reporting tools like Tableau, Business Objects, and Alteryx.
  • Experience with SQL tuning and cost management.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CDC data movement technologies.
  • Experience with AWS Redshift, Oracle, or MS SQL.
  • Experience with SAP or integrating to SAP.
