About the position

The Data Engineer role at Cardinal Health focuses on supporting and expanding the Data & Analytics platforms that are essential for processing, storing, and organizing data critical for the analytics team. This position involves driving technical execution and maintenance to ensure reliable and secure data solutions while collaborating with various teams to solve business problems and deliver effective solutions. The role also emphasizes the importance of data movement, database technologies, and the application of AI/ML algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Support and expand Data & Analytics platforms for data processing and storage.
  • Drive technical execution and maintenance for reliable and secure data solutions.
  • Collaborate with Shared Services, Cloud teams, offshore developers, and business users to solve business problems.
  • Participate in technical platform strategy as tools and business needs evolve.
  • Define and execute database and data movement standards and design reviews.
  • Analyze and re-architect legacy or enterprise database objects to GCP BigQuery.
  • Ensure technical specifications align with business needs and technical design standards.
  • Generate ideas for process and technical improvements for supported platforms.
  • Ensure platforms meet or exceed data security standards, including audits.
  • Develop best practices for solution and tool frameworks.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in data engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience with data analysis and re-platforming to GCP BigQuery.
  • Experience with database design and modeling.
  • Expert knowledge of BI Reporting tools like Tableau, Business Objects, and Alteryx.
  • Experience with SQL tuning and cost management.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and Shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CDC data movement technologies.
  • Experience with SAP or integrating to SAP.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial implications of projects.
