About the position

The Data Engineer role at Cardinal Health focuses on supporting and expanding the Data & Analytics platforms that are essential for processing, storing, and organizing critical data. This position is responsible for ensuring that raw data is usable and accessible, driving technical execution and maintenance, and collaborating with various teams to deliver reliable and secure data solutions. The role also involves analyzing and re-architecting legacy database objects to modern platforms like GCP BigQuery, while ensuring compliance with data security standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support and expand Data & Analytics platforms for data processing and storage.
  • Drive technical execution and maintenance of data solutions.
  • Collaborate with Shared Services, Cloud teams, offshore developers, and business users to solve business problems.
  • Participate in technical platform strategy and define database standards.
  • Analyze and re-architect legacy database objects to GCP BigQuery.
  • Ensure technical specifications align with business needs and technical standards.
  • Generate ideas for process and technical improvements.
  • Ensure platforms meet data security standards and pass audits.
  • Develop best practices for solution frameworks and coding practices.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in data engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience with data analysis and re-platforming to GCP BigQuery.
  • Experience with database design and modeling.
  • Expert knowledge of BI Reporting tools like Tableau and Alteryx.
  • Experience with SQL tuning and cost management.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and Shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CDC data movement technologies.
  • Experience with AWS Redshift, Oracle, or MS SQL.
  • Experience with SAP or integrating to SAP.
