About the position

The Data Engineer/ETL Developer will support the Hockey Operations Department by creating and upgrading innovative tools and solutions. This role focuses on automating ETL processes, maintaining databases, monitoring data quality, and troubleshooting data pipeline issues, with an emphasis on transforming raw data into analytical-ready datasets.

Responsibilities

• Create, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using ETL tools and practices.
• Improve data ingestion processes.
• Assist in maintaining and updating all software integrations.
• Ensure data is stored for high performance and responsiveness.
• Improve database schema design and optimize data infrastructure.
• Support application database design.
• Monitor data quality, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
• Document data workflows, processes, and technical specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mathematics, or related field preferred, or demonstrated experience.
• Expertise with modern database technologies and SQL.
• Experience in building and supporting ETL processes.
• Building API integrations.
• Version control.
• Strong coding in Python, R, or similar language.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience maintaining real-time and/or streaming databases and working with Rest APIs.
• 1+ year(s) experience in a professional hockey and hockey data or working with similar sports specific data.
