About the position

As a Data Engineer Senior at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights for our clients. This position focuses on overcoming big-data challenges and advancing client missions through effective data manipulation and management. You will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of data flows and systems, while also providing guidance to less-experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and application software.
• Develop complex data flows and enhance existing data pipelines.
• Resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design issues.
• Conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
• Provide input for writing and updating technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and offer customer support for the ETL process.
• Prepare reports on analyses, findings, and project progress.
• Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least five (5) years of related experience in data engineering and ETL processes.
• Experience building and maintaining data flows in NiFi, Pentaho, or Spark.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Big Data Technologies (Hadoop or Spark).
• Experience with Java/J2EE, SQL, XML, XQuery, XPath, Python, Shell Scripting, JSON.
• Knowledge of server operating systems (Windows, Linux) and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to comprehend database methodologies.
