About the position

The Data Engineer position at Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is a full-time, permanent role based in Audubon, PA. This hybrid position focuses on the development and management of data architectures and pipelines essential for modern Business Intelligence (BI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, creating, and preparing the necessary data, ensuring it is cleansed, mapped, transformed, and optimized for storage and use according to both business and technical requirements. The role requires a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services and other relevant tools to design effective solutions that meet the organization's data needs. In this role, the Data Engineer will automate tasks and deploy production-standard code, which includes unit testing, continuous integration, and versioning. The position also involves loading transformed data into various storage and reporting structures, such as data warehouses and real-time reporting systems, to facilitate analytics applications. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical and functional skills, including experience in data engineering, cloud data processing services, and big data technologies, as well as strong communication and collaboration abilities. The Data Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that data solutions align with organizational goals and contribute to the overall success of data-driven initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Identifying, creating, and preparing data required for modern BI/ML solutions
  • Building data architectures and data pipelines to collectively bring together data
  • Designing solutions using Microsoft Azure services and other tools
  • Assuring that data is cleansed, mapped, transformed, and optimized for storage and use according to business and technical requirements
  • Automating tasks and deploying production standard code (with unit testing, continuous integration, versioning, etc.)
  • Loading transformed data into storage and reporting structures such as data warehouses, real-time reporting systems, and analytics applications

Requirements

  • Experience in data engineering and cloud data processing services (Azure Cloud Platform)
  • Hands-on experience in Data Warehousing & ETL tools
  • Experience in Big Data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Knowledge of SQL and Python/PySpark
  • Open mindset, ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and learn new practices
  • Strong communication skills

  • Presentation skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, Java is a plus
  • Performance/security-oriented data modeling and data design, including partitions, different types of indexes, views, and most effective data management practices
  • Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Purview, Snowflake, Qlik, or Tableau is a plus
