About the position

The Data Engineer - GIS will be an integral part of a data analytics team supporting a large Intelligence Community Agency. This role focuses on data process improvement, data management, and the creation of performance metrics and business intelligence aimed at optimizing business operations. The Data Engineer will develop tools for data optimization, enhance GEOINT product metrics data pipelines, and apply machine learning techniques to improve the safety and efficiency of navigation products and geospatial data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support data process improvement and management for a large Intelligence Community Agency.
  • Develop data optimization tools to enhance navigation product workflows and geospatial data analysis.
  • Maintain and enhance GEOINT product metrics data pipeline using authoritative sources.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to improve data insights.

Requirements

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TS/SCI Federal or DoD security clearance; must UPGRADE and MAINTAIN a Top Secret with SCI (TS/SCI) and Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • FIVE (5) or more years of experience using Python.
  • TWO (2) or more years of experience working with data quality control tools including ArcGIS Data Re Viewer.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as SQL and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge in data science, including data services, modeling, and analytics.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data management.
  • Some experience with ESRI Workflow Manager WMX and TAM.
  • Experience with advisement and development of business intelligence (BI) enhancements.

Nice-to-haves

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TS/SCI Federal or DoD security clearance with a COUNTERINTELLIGENCE (CI) polygraph.
  • Experience with combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, and geospatial production techniques.
  • Ability to clean/prune data to discard irrelevant information.
  • Ability to examine data from various angles to determine hidden value, weaknesses, trends, and opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and ArcServer.
  • Knowledge of database systems and architecture (ORACLE, PostgresSQL, NoSQL (MongoDB), Microsoft Access).
  • Ability to write SQL and NoSQL queries.
  • Understanding of unstructured data techniques.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, services, and DevOps knowledge.
  • Experience with sprint cycles and Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of strategic planning and development of requirements for cloud architectures.
