About the position

The Data Engineer position focuses on leveraging Google Cloud Platform technologies to design, develop, and deliver data integration and extraction solutions. The role requires expertise in data warehousing and data lake implementations, with a strong emphasis on transforming ETL jobs into cloud-native solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in data modeling, database design, and troubleshooting complex technical issues, while working in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver data integration/data extraction solutions using IBM DataStage or other ETL tools.
• Implement data warehouse and data lake solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Convert ETL jobs from tools like Informatica, Talend, or DataStage into Dataflow or Dataproc and migrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize BigQuery for data processing and analysis.
• Write and maintain Linux/Unix shell scripts and SQL queries for data manipulation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to meet project goals.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in Google Cloud Platform with overall 6-8 years of experience in data engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in data warehouse and data lake implementation.
• 1-2 years of experience specifically with BigQuery.
• 1-2 years of experience converting ETL jobs into Dataflow or Dataproc and working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix shell scripting and SQL.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and the data warehousing ecosystem.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with additional ETL tools like Informatica or Talend.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
