Our Product & Data Engineering team plays a crucial role in this mission, focusing on the end-to-end development of Disney's consumer-facing products, including popular streaming platforms like Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Our platforms are designed to enhance core experiences, including personalization, search, messaging, and data analytics. As a Data Engineer II, you will be instrumental in the success of our company by collaborating with business, analytics, and infrastructure teams to design and build robust data pipelines. These pipelines will facilitate the measurement of key performance indicators, such as marketing campaign spend and conversions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify both internal and external data sources, design table structures, and define ETL strategies, ensuring automated data quality checks are in place. Your contributions will help shape the future of Disney's media business, ensuring that our data products and warehouses are optimized for performance and scalability. In this role, you will also be responsible for maintaining detailed documentation of your work to support data quality and governance. You will ensure that your solutions meet high operational efficiency and quality standards, aligning with our commitment to customer satisfaction and service level agreements (SLAs).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and growth of Data Products and Data Warehouses around Acquisition marketing spend and campaign performance data.
  • Develop and optimize performant database, data model, integration, and ETL in RDBMS and Big Data environments.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions.
  • Help define technical requirements and implementation details for the underlying data warehouse and data marts.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance.
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support commitment to customers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Proven experience with at least one major RDBMS (SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle).
  • 1+ years of experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Pyspark).
  • 1+ years of experience with data orchestration/ETL tools (Airflow, Nifi), preferred.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to create queries to extract and build tables.
  • Familiarity with Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard methodologies and practices.
  • Familiarity with Amazon S3 and/or ETL using Databricks.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical and communication skills.
