About the position

The Data Engineer II position involves the development and deployment of data models and reports that provide business intelligence to engineering and operations groups. The role focuses on creating usable datasets, dashboards, and reports using Oracle, as well as developing algorithms for data extraction, transformation, normalization, and loading into databases for reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Create scheduled and ad hoc reports that enable data-driven decisions.
• Investigate performance bottlenecks in database usage and work with key users to optimize performance.
• Create extracts and reports from production databases for repeated automated requests as well as ad-hoc requests from stakeholders.
• Maintain proficiency in SQL writing on Oracle databases.
• Troubleshoot complex SQL queries for performance tuning.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of distributed transactions between Oracle databases.
• Show proficiency in OS X and Linux server environments.
• Easily communicate project status, issues, risks to team members and senior management.

Requirements

• Strong experience writing SQL on Oracle
• Strong experience writing Oracle PLSQL
• Experience writing shell scripts
• Experience reverse engineering Oracle data models to write complex SQL reports
• Skill in advanced SQL performance tuning, particularly involving complex PLSQL development and re-writing SQL for improved execution time.
• Strong understanding of distributed transactions between Oracle databases.
• Proficiency in OS X and Linux server environments.
• Ability to document and communicate project status, issues, and risks effectively.
