About the position

mPulse is seeking a Healthcare Data Engineer II to join its data engineering team. This role is essential for designing, developing, and maintaining the data platform that supports various data-driven healthcare initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, particularly within the healthcare sector, and will be proficient in SQL, with excellent critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex healthcare data into actionable insights to drive healthcare quality and efficiency.
  • Perform data manipulation and statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Read, write, debug, and refactor SQL queries with proficiency, with experience in PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server being a plus.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the design, development, and maintenance of analytic datasets including data quality and benchmarking assessments.
  • Work with clinical analytics teams to operationalize analytic and reporting innovations.
  • Execute a variety of clinical and financial ad hoc analyses in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Design workflows and improve automation, performance, efficiency, and productivity of data pipeline products.
  • Analyze complex data issues, identify root causes, and propose solutions clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design data solutions, and ensure data integrity.
  • Document processes, specifications, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in statistics; a graduate degree in a related discipline is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant data engineering and analytic experience, preferably using healthcare claims data.
  • Highly proficient in reading, writing, debugging, and refactoring SQL queries.
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a focus on data accuracy and consistency.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker Studio.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Experience with version control systems and data pipeline orchestration tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in MS SQL Server is strongly preferred; experience with PostgreSQL or Redshift SQL is desirable.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker is desirable.
  • Familiarity with version control using git is desirable.
