The Data Engineer III is a pivotal role within FM Global, a leading property insurer for some of the world's largest businesses. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including analysis, data modeling, data collection, data integration, and the preparation of data for consumption. The Data Engineer will create and manage data infrastructure, design data pipelines, implement solutions, and verify data accuracy. The role emphasizes the importance of maintaining high standards of data quality, security, and compliance, while also implementing methods to enhance data reliability and quality. The Data Engineer will work with both structured and unstructured data, combining raw information from various sources to create consistent datasets. Proficiency in DataOps is essential, as the Data Engineer will provide technical expertise to other team members. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Data Engineer III will design and build data solutions and integrations that may involve diverse data platforms, software, hardware, technologies, and tools. This role requires collaboration with product owners, developers, solution architects, business analysts, and data scientists to understand data and reporting needs. The Data Engineer will also validate solutions through disciplined testing methodologies and ensure that tables and views are designed for data integrity, efficiency, and performance. The Data Engineer III is expected to work independently and lead smaller projects while being part of integrated project teams for medium to large projects. Responsibilities also include managing operational data issues, supporting developers and analysts, and providing clear communication to users and management. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Responsibilities

  • Provide ad hoc data extracts and analysis for business needs.
  • Support developers and data scientists in data interaction and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in data engineering.
  • Strong SQL coding skills and experience with ETL/ELT design.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining cloud databases.
  • Knowledge of Azure Cloud applications and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
