About the position

The Data Engineer III at Old National Bank is responsible for developing and implementing technical solutions that support data exchange and integration needs for both internal and external customers. This role focuses on modernizing the bank's data platform, including integration with Salesforce and digital banking platforms, while working in an in-office environment. The position requires collaboration with team members and stakeholders to ensure effective data solutions are developed and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Design, development, and maintenance of ETL/ELT processes.
  • Design and development of repeatable frameworks and functions for other data engineers.
  • Ensure operational excellence by monitoring and validating data products.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Info Security, and Data Governance teams.
  • Study systems flow, data usage, and work processes to improve efficiency.
  • Deliver thoroughly tested functional data products.
  • Follow the development team's SDLC process and accurately estimate project timelines.
  • Meet deadlines for project completion and module development.
  • Work closely with DBAs to design and maintain database objects.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of data engineering experience, including ETL/ELT development.
  • 3 years of experience with SSIS/Azure Data Factory preferred, along with knowledge of Python.
  • Expertise in building scalable data products and platforms with a focus on metadata-driven approaches.
  • Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into data solutions.
  • Experience with orchestration tools and job schedulers for data loading and movement.
  • Proficiency in scripting tools such as Python and/or C#.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks for enterprise Data Lake.
  • Strong working experience with T-SQL, including complex stored procedures and query optimization.
  • Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) and preserving historical data from various sources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience in an Agile environment using Azure DevOps or JIRA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to code repositories like Azure DevOps and Git.
  • Working knowledge of analytical and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data architectures using Azure stack, Databricks, and/or Snowflake.
