About the position

The Enterprise Technology & Security Summer Internship Program is designed for emerging technologists looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in the field of data engineering. This critical program within Enterprise Technology & Security Services provides passionate early career professionals with real-world exposure to groundbreaking technology. Interns in the Data Engineer Track will work collaboratively with experienced Data Engineers on a variety of initiatives, utilizing their technical skills and innovative mindset to leverage advanced analytics and big data techniques. The goal is to derive valuable insights from enterprise data and effectively communicate these insights to stakeholders. As a Data Engineer Intern, you will assist in implementing data integration solutions across multiple platforms within Citizens. Your responsibilities will include building robust data pipelines to collect, process, and compute various metrics from financial sources, ensuring adherence to quality and development standards. You will focus on designing data stores and software engineering, ensuring that data is readily available for those who need it. Collaboration with cross-functional team members will be essential as you work to develop optimal solutions that meet data demands. Additionally, you will execute unit tests on data populated in target data containers, validating expected results to ensure quality and accuracy. Coordination with business users for User Acceptance Testing and collaboration with the Operations team for code deployment to upper environments will also be part of your role. This 10-week internship program, starting in early June 2025, offers interns a strong understanding of Data Engineering at Citizens. Participants will benefit from mentorship, exposure to senior leadership, and a variety of professional development activities, including workshops on personal branding and effective communication. Social activities, such as sporting events and a bank-wide intern BBQ, along with dedicated community service activities, will further enrich the internship experience. High-performing interns may receive an offer to return as full-time colleagues in the Enterprise Technology & Security Development Program (ETSDP) upon graduation, which supports career growth in software, network/systems, data or cloud engineering, technology risk, and security.
