About the position

The Data Engineer position at Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) involves shaping, building, maintaining, and supporting the data infrastructure for the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) using Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is critical in leveraging data technologies to meet the increasing data science needs within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the improvement of public health services for Minnesotans.

Responsibilities

• Shape, build, maintain, and support MDH's data infrastructure in AWS.
• Leverage data technologies to support data science needs.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to deliver effective data solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum of four (4) years of advanced data science experience.
• Experience with AWS services and at least three of the following technologies: Glue, REDSHIFT, RDS, Lambda, Athena, or DMS.
• Experience in transforming data through ETL and/or data pipelines.
• Programming experience in Python.
• Experience using data analytics tools such as R or SAS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills including active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

• Experience in communicating and training on data science technical issues to non-technical employees.
