About the position

The Data Engineer - Lead role focuses on establishing and managing database systems, ensuring quality assurance for database deliverables, and adapting business requirements into effective data solutions. The position involves coding complex programs, building user interfaces, and participating in quality assurance processes. The lead engineer will also evaluate and install database management systems, document designs, and provide expertise in database specifications and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables.
  • Document and communicate database design.
  • Evaluate and install database management systems.
  • Code complex programs and derive logical processes on technical platforms.
  • Build windows, screens, and reports.
  • Assist in the design of user interface and business application prototypes.
  • Participate in quality assurance and develop test application code in a client-server environment.
  • Provide expertise in devising, negotiating, and defending the tables and fields provided in the database.
  • Adapt business requirements and develop data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for applications.
  • Determine appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.
  • Determine how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science or related technical subject area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience in the Data Engineering field.
  • Experience building scalable and high-performance cloud data lake solutions.
  • Experience working on technologies like Spark and Airflow.
  • Preferred platform experience in Databricks/AWS for building big data pipelines.
  • Experience with source control tools such as GitHub and related CI/CD processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical approach.
  • Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively with team members and business partners.
