About the position

Alethea is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a talented team of engineers. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of the company's data infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and efficient to support growing data needs. The manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and career guidance to the data engineering team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data systems.
  • Stay abreast of the latest data engineering technologies and trends.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies to enhance data infrastructure.
  • Lead and manage data engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand their data needs.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of data infrastructure.
  • Remain actively involved in technical work, contributing to code reviews and architecture design.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, Kafka).
  • Experience with AWS and data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A genuine passion for data and its potential to drive business insights and innovation.
