About the position

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining analytics datasets, sources, and reporting infrastructure for Bryan Health. This role serves as an expert and key resource for Data Governance, standards, and applications across the organization. Additionally, this role will work with stakeholders to scope, build, and implement key data and analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates core values.
  • Participates in or supports work stream planning process.
  • Creates and organizes large, complex datasets.
  • Identifies and deploys improvements to current data structure to improve performance and quality.
  • Builds and automates ETL processes for data inside and outside the organization.
  • Uses, builds and monitors tools to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Works with internal and external customers and partners to gather, validate and implement data requirements.
  • Creates, modifies and distributes reports displaying data (Crystal, Epic, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Works collaboratively with leaders and end-users to define business problems and appropriate solutions, including project scoping and technical requirements.
  • Writes SQL and configures settings for customer SQL metrics.
  • Develops, executes and documents user test plans, and provides support to test teams and resolves issues based on test results.
  • Verifies the collection data is within required quality standards.
  • Participates as key resource in enterprise Data Governance process.
  • Maintains the quality of metadata repository/data dictionary by adding, modifying and deleting data.
  • Creates data quality tickets as needed.
  • Participates in vendor evaluations when assigned.
  • Reviews upgrade documentation related to new/additional available features and determines how to implement changes.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining Cubes, Extracts, Self-Service reporting tools, customer filters, and Third-Party business intelligence tools.
  • Assists in the development of end user training materials.
  • Coaches and trains clients in the use of business intelligence solutions to enhance business decision-making capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Technology, Statistics or related field required.
  • Five (5) years of related experience required.
  • Epic certification in at least one (1) application module for business intelligence within four (4) months of hire.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Technology or Statistics preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Epic Clarity and Data Model certification highly preferred.
