About the position

The Data Engineer position within the Amazon transportation controllership team focuses on expanding financial data systems to support the global transportation network. The role requires a data-driven individual with strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with business owners and tech leaders, design data infrastructure, and build data pipelines that meet business needs. The engineer will work with large datasets to drive business insights and support operations, utilizing cutting-edge AWS technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop end to end scalable data infrastructure and data pipelines
• Develop data products and deploy highly performant solutions using AWS services
• Improve existing solutions and recommend data architecture enhancements
• Develop new data models and end-to-end data pipelines
• Lead design reviews for other Data Engineers and participate in related tech product reviews
• Provide technical and thought leadership for Data Engineering and Business Intelligence
• Create and implement Data Governance strategy to mitigate privacy and security risks
• Design, implement, and support a platform for secured access to large datasets
• Interface with controllership customers to gather requirements and deliver data solutions
• Develop ETL pipelines linking various datasets for analysis objectives
• Analyze and solve problems at their root, understanding the broader context.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
• Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
