About the position

As a Senior Data Engineer at WeWork, you will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing our cloud data warehouse and data integration tools. This position focuses on collaborating with various teams to leverage data for business insights and improve internal data processes. You will be part of a culture that values trust and collaboration, contributing to the future of Data Engineering with a focus on best practices and new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Administrate and maintain a cloud data warehouse.
  • Lead the design of access control for infrastructure tools including data warehouse, orchestration, and ingestion tools.
  • Enable building and launching highly scalable and reliable data pipelines to support WeWork business.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, data analysts, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to leverage WeWork data for data-driven business and user behavior insights.
  • Improve the efficiency and quality of internal data processes and stakeholder engagement, including implementation of system and model quality tracking.
  • Develop tools supporting self-service data pipeline management (ETL).
  • Contribute to the future of Data Engineering with a focus on the latest tools, best practices, and new technologies.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and initiative.
  • Experience with Airflow or other modern workflow management platforms (Luigi, Azkaban, etc.).
  • Experience working as an administrator for cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) and managing security frameworks, e.g. Role Based Access Controls, Data Masking, Row-Level Security, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Strong background in data warehousing concepts and designs.
  • Proficient in at least one of the SQL dialects (Snowflake, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SqlServer, Oracle).
  • Good understanding of SQL Engine and able to conduct advanced performance tuning.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash) in a professional environment.
  • Experience with Git and CI CD workflows.
  • Experience with modern BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).

  • Experience with AWS or GCP.
  • Experience with Docker.
  • Experience with Networking and shell scripting.
  • Vendor relationship management.
