About the position

The Data Engineer role within Global Engineering & Technology (GE&T) focuses on designing and building data pipelines for foundational data sets related to Ride Control, Show Control, and other attraction-related data. This position involves collaborating with various teams to define technical requirements, implement ETL strategies, and ensure data quality. The role offers exposure to all phases of the data pipeline process and requires working with cloud-based technology to solve complex data challenges.

Responsibilities

• Configure and deploy data acquisition systems in attractions and other systems that support Disney Parks.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines at attractions and other Disney Park areas to build reliable and scalable data solutions, including data quality checks and validations.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Improve existing pipelines with optimizations, deprecations, and new technology.
• Work with collaborators to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
• Coordinate with multiple departments including Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Ride Control, Show Control, and Cyber Security on system installations.
• Solve data issues and design plan for repair including communication with the proper customers prior to changes being implemented.
• Capability to work odd hours when the job requires it.

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven experience in data engineering.
• Knowledge of designing, building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Good understanding of project management tools, such as JIRA.
• Knowledge of Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard methodologies and practices.
• Strong communication skills - written and verbal presentations and able to communicate optimally at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of data orchestration/ETL tools (iba, Apache NiFi) preferred.
