In this role, you will be responsible for manipulating data and data flows for both existing and new systems. A successful data engineer will provide support in various areas including data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL), data mapping, analytical support, operational support, and maintenance of data and associated systems. You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that emphasizes process improvement and requires a solid understanding of large-scale database development, data modeling, data testing, and documentation preparation. To succeed in this position, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering and ETL processes. You will be expected to develop complex data flows, enhance existing pipelines, and troubleshoot complex problems while providing customer support for the ETL process. Your role will also involve preparing reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, as well as providing guidance to less-experienced software engineers. Familiarity with Big Data technologies and various programming languages will be essential for your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manipulate data and data flows for existing and new systems.
  • Provide support in data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL).
  • Conduct data mapping and analytical support.
  • Maintain data and associated systems.
  • Work in a multi-tasking, quick-paced environment focused on process improvement.
  • Develop complex data flows and enhance existing pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and provide customer support for the ETL process.
  • Prepare reports on analyses, findings, and project progress.
  • Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of related software engineering and ETL experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining data flows in NiFi, Pentaho, or Spark.
  • Familiarization with NoSQL datastores.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to comprehend database methodologies.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, SQL, XML, XQuery, XPath, Python, Shell Scripting, and JSON.
  • Knowledge of server operating systems including Windows, Linux, and cloud infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience executing jobs in Big Data Technologies (i.e., Hadoop or Spark).
